The Dog House Resort and Spa

Voted #1 Best of West Michigan 10 Years and Counting!

Hello, My name is Elizabeth, I am the trainer at The Dog House Resort & Spa. Growing up I always wanted to be a vet or help animals in some way. I quickly learned that more pets are given away or even put down due to having behavioral problems over anything else.  I knew I would prefer to help people understand their dogs and make living with a pet a constantly enjoyable experience, more than I would working medically on dogs. I graduated from The Animal Behavioral College in 2013 with honors. I really enjoyed their program and continue to work with dogs every day to solve behavioral problems, making better habits. I am a firm believer that it is easier to make good habits than it is to break old ones. Starting every dog off with basic obedience is extremely important, and a great bonding experience for all dog owners!

Meet Wade!

Owner of GooGenius - Cartoon Drawing

I grew up in Midland, Michigan. I’ve always loved cartooning and although I have never had any formal training, I have continued to develop my cartoon technique and understanding throughout my life. I attended Hope College and contributed a weekly comic strip called Perkins to the school newspaper. I graduated from Hope with a business and art composite degree in 1992. I then played basketball abroad, in six different countries but largely in France, retiring in 2005.

While overseas, I had the opportunity to study how other cultures use graphic stories and cartoon techniques for all sorts of social commentary and communication. I regularly attended many cartoon festivals including the largest European gathering of illustrators and authors at Angouleme. I contributed to a number of European newspapers and magazines on a sporadic to regular basis…most notably a three year run with France’s top basketball magazine MaxiBasket.

I decided that, despite the stigma cartoons and comics sometimes carry in the States, they are really a very sophisticated and effective way to transmit ideas. I’ve spent my time since basketball studying the attributes of visual stories and developing prototypes for applying them to various disciplines. On returning to the United States to live in 2007 I founded GooGenius, a company dedicated to applying cartoons to a broad spectrum of communication needs…including fun applications like my Goo Guys & Gals series of early readers.
