Recreation Cancellation Procedures
Little Kickers/Kinder Kickers: On scheduled days if it is raining, a coach from each team must contact the coach from the opposing team to determine if conditions are safe for play. Coaches who make the decision to cancel must contact their team at least one (1) hour prior to their scheduled start time. Soccer will not be started or continued to be played if a thunderstorm warning, tornado warning or severe weather warning has been issued by the National Weather Service or lightning is seen in the area. Games at this age level that are cancelled will not be made up. No refunds will be issued for weather cancellations.
1st – 6th Grade: On game days if it is raining, teams MUST show up at their scheduled game time and field. The coaches from each team will conference with the referees to determine whether a game will or will not be played due to weather or playing field conditions. Games will not be started or continued to be played if a thunderstorm warning, tornado warning or severe weather warning has been issued by the National Weather Service or lightning is seen in the area. There will be one scheduled make-up game for the first game that gets cancelled. No refunds will be issued for weather cancellations.
Turning Pointe School of Dance
In the case of inclement weather please be advised to consult closing information for Turning Pointe School of Dance (not Park Township) on your local ABC or NBC television stations or visit www.turningpointedance.org for closing information. Cancelling dance sessions is decided by Turning Pointe School of Dance and may not be available on Park Township’s web site. If Turning Pointe School of Dance is closed, the students from Park Township Recreation should not report to dance class.
Activities at Park Township Facilities:
Park Township Community Center and Maatman Center
It is Park Township’s policy regarding our facilities that in the event West Ottawa Public Schools activities are cancelled, our classes located in our buildings are cancelled as well.
MVP Athletic Club-West Ottawa North Tennis Courts
It is the policy of Park Township and MVP that in the event it is raining at the time a tennis session is scheduled to begin, that session will be cancelled and resumed the Friday during the week the class was set to take place.
Rainouts will be called on site by the team captains not by Zeeland Recreation or Park Township Recreaion. Lightening, thunder and hard rain are cause for cancellation. Rainouts should be made up throughout the season by contacting your Recreation Coordinator. Do not wait until the end of the season to reschedule.
